A list of all the assets owned by the parties together with evidence of ownership, ie., deeds, wills, trust documents, is very helpful.

The manner in which the property was acquired, and the date of acquisition are important.  Equally important is the price paid for each of the assets so their cost basis can be determined.

Finally, list the natural objects of your bounty, that is, to whom do you want to leave your property.  Also, very important is the name of the person who you want to administer your estate after your passing.  Pick the person you know who is the most business like and who can make tough decisions.
